Send To Friend?

Instructor: Matthew Johnson

Thinking of using a drone for business purposes or purchasing a drone for a Birthday or Christmas gift, or just because? Take this course to learn the ins-and-outs of Drone usage.

This course is spread over two 3-hour evenings and will cover some of the essential topics required to use drones both recreationally and commercially. Due to recent legislation by Transport Canada, there are many factors that pilots should be aware of before flying. Ask "why?" before you fly! The instructor pulls from his experiences and will outline steps that will lead to safe drone operations. These topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Rules and regulations
  • Operating limitations and safety considerations
  • Communicating with Transport Canada and NAV CANADA
  • Systems familiarization, maintenance, and battery preservation techniques
  • Manual and autonomous flight

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER CODING USING SMALL BASIC

Send To Friend?

Instructor: Brian Dentry

Coding is cool, but what does it mean and it is something you can actually do? Yes you can! Microsoft Small Basic puts the "fun" back into computer programming.

A few of the interesting tidbits about Small Basic are:

  • with a friendly development environment that is very easy to master, it eases both kids and adults into a world of programming;
  • Small Basic combines a friendly environment with a very simple language and a rich and engaging set of libraries to make your programs and games "pop";
  • in a matter of a few lines of code, you will be well on your way to creating your very own game;
  • with a new and revolutionary IntelliSense®, Small Basic makes writing code a breeze;
  • now you can share your programs with your friends - let them import your published programs and run them on their computer; and
  • understanding coding - parents will have something to share with their children.

Small Basic is an OOP language: Object-oriented programming refers to a type of computer programming (software design) in which programmers define not only the data type of a data structure, but also the types of operations (functions) that can be applied to the data structure. NOTE: Bring your own laptop. Lab fee $30 payable to the instructor.
