This course will help you understand your camera and camera settings: how to take a good photo and upload and edit. Bring your camera, extra batteries and/or AC adapter, memory card, cables and manual.

The Farm: Stitch a farm scene and add a 3 dimensional animal element. Material fee of $15.00 paid to instructor.

Forest Scene: Compose and create your own original stitched piece with a variety of related fabrics. Animals can be added. Material fee of $15.00 paid to instructor.

Students will learn the basic operation, paint mixing, shading, and maintenance of airbrushing through a series of demonstrations and hands on practical work. Students will also learn the complete process of creating airbrush artwork for goalie masks, motorcycle tanks and automotive applications. Participants will pay a $25.00 lab supply fee to the instructor the night of the first class.

Using a novel structured approach, accompanied by handouts and in-class and take-home projects, you will learn to draw with confidence.

Learn about the various genres of children's books - from picture books to graphic and junior novels. Discuss key concepts such as story elements, components of writing, and knowing your intended audience. Prewriting activities and short writing tasks will improve your ability to generate and organize ideas and write for a purpose. Once you've chosen a genre and topic that interests you, the real writing will begin. Support will be given as you compose and record your thoughts. The last class will focus on the editing/revision process. Your successes will be celebrated and constructive suggestions made for future writing and the editing/revision of text. Carol has written four children's books and her children's publishing company, Peanut Butter Press, has published five titles by other authors.

Writers typically start a short story, novel or play with an idea of what is going to happen. We will focus on character, setting and motivation (who, where, when, why) in a number of in and after-class exercises designed to help you flesh out your original idea. These activities will also focus your attention on technical questions regarding perspective, voice and word choice in our writing. Bob's new novel, "Dadolescence" has been published by Turnstone Press. He has written many plays that have been presented in theatres throughout the prairies and has won many awards for his novel, plays and short stories.

This is an exciting hands-on course in which Winnipeg's own 'The Flower Lady' with 18 years of experience in the Winnipeg market, will teach you the basics of floral design. This series of classes will have a spring bridal theme but techniques can be applied to all occasions, especially engagements, showers, graduation, anniversaries, retirements and those special summer parties.

Basic Floral Design, Arrangements and Centerpieces: Learn how to make floral arrangements and centerpieces. Learn the technical aspects of design and arrangement including proper composition and decorative elements. Ribbon making, wiring, taping and basic floral care will be covered.

This week you will learn to make a bridal bouquet and headpiece.

You don't need a studio to create great portraits. With the right approach and a minimum of equipment, you can create stunning portraits of people in situations that say a lot about their personality and lifestyle. This course will cover professional portrait techniques and how to pose adults and children in a studio or on location. It will cover every step from pre-consultation all the way to the finished photographic print hanging on the wall. You will learn how to pose your subject's head, hands and body in order to best flatter their body type and reflect their personality. You will also learn how to use strong story telling in your photography. Digital work flow is critical to the success of the entire process; you will be taught every step. You will also learn about lighting on location, in the studio and on the camera. $30.00 lab fee payable to instructor.

The practise of meditation used along with the medium of watercolour, especially the wet-in-wet technique, allows the spirit lying deep within the artist to express itself. The colours are introduced to the water and move in miraculous ways to create shapes and natural forms. Explore, experiment and find energy in your life within. For this one day session, you will want to pack a lunch. Lab fee of $15.00 paid to instructor.

This set of workshops is intended for you to explore the relationship between the experience of watercolour and meditation. 2) Knit and purl stitches?

3) Work with double pointed needles (dpn)

Then you should sign up for this sock class. In this four week program you will be introduced to the structure and form of a sock, knit from the cuffs to the toes. Using double knitting (dk) weight yarn, you will work through a pair of socks, learning to turn the heel, shape the gusset, and graft using Kitchener stitch. Pull your finished socks on in week 4 and you'll never want to wear store bought socks again!

Materials Required: 2 skeins (or balls) of dk knitting weight yarn (approx 500 yards), 3.25 mm double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Two sets of needles are recommended so you can work on both socks each week. Darning needle, stitch markers are also required.

The Prairies: Learn the basic method of creating a landscape using fabrics to create a prairie scene. Material fee of $15.00 paid to instructor.

Easy, fun and simple to follow on either acoustic or electric guitar. This program focuses on building a strong foundation towards becoming the musician you always knew you had in you. Learn parts of the guitar, electronic tuners, how to read chord diagrams and tablature. Proper picking, strumming technique and correct technique for fretting notes will be covered. Lots of tips and short cuts provided. Please bring a guitar, binder, paper, pencil, eraser and multicoloured highlighter pens. Have you ever wanted to act in theatre or film? This introductory course for adults will teach you the basics of acting techniques, theatre production and how to find work as an actor in Winnipeg. This is the perfect class for newcomers, those interested in acting just for fun or anyone who has an interest in theatre (including those returning to acting after an absence). We will explore character development, improvisation, voice and movement, theatre production basics and how and where to audition for roles. Learn about the major components of book publishing - editing, illustration, designing, printing, follow-up marketing and distribution and other small but important details. The instructor has self-published four children's books and will share with you, from her own personal experience and that of other self-published authors, how to avoid the pitfalls and produce a quality book in the most practical, cost-efficient manner. This is an excellent follow-up course to other writing courses.

Learn the basics of this fun and versatile instrument. No previous music skills are required. Learn to make a sound with proper breathing techniques. Perform effects such as warbling, vibrato and bends. To ensure steady progress, students will become acquainted with reading harmonica music then move on quickly towards playing simple songs. Upon completion, you will have gained a strong foundation for further development on the instrument. Students are ask to bring a Diatonic harmonica (Special 20 or Hot Metal) in the key of 'C' Major (approx. cost $20 - $37).
