This course will provide students with the fundamentals and practical applications of basic accounting. Students will learn accounting procedures and practices necessary in any small business. This course will cover the accounting cycle consisting of: accounting terminology, originating source documents, journalizing (including PST and GST), posting, preparing a trial balance, 6, 8, and 10 column worksheets, an income statement, a classified balance sheet and closing entries. No previous accounting experience required. Excel will be used as a tool to assist in reinforcing accounting concepts learned. A textbook and workbook are required.

This program is a cornerstone of employment. Microsoft Word is a basic computer requirement. You will learn to; open and close files, create folders and save files, format and design documents and cut/copy/paste. Participants will receive step by step instruction and workbooks to continue their study at home.

If you own a small business or have a home-based business and want to create your own website, this course is for you! The program Nvu will be used to create web pages. The principles learned here will work with any web publishers such as DreamWeaver and FrontPage.

Do you have a Mac and want to learn more or perhaps you are looking at purchasing your first Mac but you have questions you need answered? We will be looking at operating systems and navigating and personalizing your computer. You will see how cameras, printers, scanners and other devices attached to your computer as well as looking at some of the software that came installed on your Mac.

The intermediate Mac will be the next step after the Intro to Mac class. We will go deeper into the use of your Mac and look at many of the programs that come with it. We will look at iPhoto and how to manage your photos and how to make slideshows and movies from your pictures. We will also look at Time Machine and iCloud, programs that will back up your files automatically keeping your pictures and files safe from harm.

In this two week course we will be covering: anti-virus software, virus definitions and how they can damage your computer, security protection on your computer and on the internet and how to block questionable sites from your children. We will discuss how these relate to identity theft and provide links to web pages on how to protect yourself and what to do if you are a victim.

This set of classes is a great way to explore the many social networking sites on the world wide web. You will be able to communicate with family, grandchildren and friends using the internet. You will learn about: anti-virus software and iGoogle, creating and using a Gmail account, Skype, Facebook, YouTube, Blogging. This class is designed for those with some experience with computers and web browsers.
