BUSINESS ACCOUNTING - LEVEL I

Business Accounting Level One will provide students with the fundamentals and practical applications of basic accounting. Students will learn accounting procedures and practices necessary in any small business. This course will cover the accounting cycle consisting of:

  • Accounting terminology
  • Originating source documents
  • Journalizing
  • PST and GST
  • Posting
  • Preparing a trial balance
  • Income statement
  • A classified balance sheet
  • Closing entries

No previous accounting experience is required. Excel will be used as a tool to assist in reinforcing accounting concepts learned. Please bring a memory stick to class.

A textbook and study guide/workbook is required for this course. The course fee includes the books, valued at $150, which are yours to keep. The same textbook and workbook is used for Accounting Level Two.

This course will take you step-by-step through the following: the business planning process, legal structures of business, financing your business, evaluating opportunities, taxation, financing requirements, accounting and bookkeeping rules, GST and PST, market research, marketing your business, starting a small business in Manitoba and more. Please bring a binder to class.
